Investigation of soil properties and nutrients in agricultural practiced land in Tangail, Bangladesh

The study investigated on soil nutrients in agriculture practiced high, medium low and land at Kalihati upazila of Tangail district during October 2017 to June 2018. Thirty samples were collected from different types the area analyzed Soil Resource Development Institute (SRDI) determine nutrient status. parameters under investigation included pH, organic matter (OM), total nitrogen (N), available phosphorus (P), zinc (Zn), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), boron (B), exchangeable potassium (K), calcium (Ca) magnesium (Mg). Results indicated that many levels decreased such as pH (5.63 6.40), P (3.50 23.20 ?g g-1), Zn (3.27 3.60 Mn (21.12 57.90 B (0.17 0.60 K (0.18 0.30 meq 100g-1) Ca (5.75 9.10 100g-1). On contrary, average content OM (2.30 1.40%), Fe (248.22 161.10 g-1) Mg (2.07 1.80 increased. Total N status did not change much (0.12%). like those Zn, Fe, contents found above optimum level (very high) but below (low, very medium). Nutrient concentrations may limit crop yield. Updated knowledge about needs be provided for farmers so they can use necessary amount fertilizers avoid applying excess fertilizers.
